The Municipal Museum in Żory is a young institution, founded in 2000, at the initiative of local authorities, members of the Society of Friends of the Town of Żory and Lucian Buchalik, then director of the Municipal Cultural Center. The main aim of the museum is to collect items relating to the history of Żory. Since last year, the Museum have been settled in renovated residence called Villa Haeringa. The new exhibitions are planned to be open in autumn 2015.
Until the opening of the new museum exhibition offers educational classes, workshops and lectures on the history of the city and the region, folk customs and all sorts of aspects of life on other continents. The offer is addressed to groups (kindergartens , schools , associations) as well as for individuals who may participate in meetings cycles such as "Family at the Museum " and " Meetings with science."
